Fertility
Fertility reflexology is for women at any stage in their fertility planning, whether they are enhancing their general health before trying for a baby, experiencing problems with conception or having assisted conception (IVF, IUI, ICSI) as it helps to:
Promotes deep relaxation, maximising the chances of conception. Stress is a significant factor that affects fertility as chronic/ongoing stress causes the body to produce stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. These slow the production of reproductive hormones, making it harder to conceive
Reduces the amount of cortisol in your body, which in turn could boost the production of follicle stimulating hormones, thereby may enhance fertility as an egg takes 90 days to mature before ovulation, which means that it can take three months to increase egg quality
Helps to normalise the menstrual cycle and correct hormonal imbalances. By stimulating the reproductive organs, it synchronises ovulation and improves sperm production
Provides a safe complementary therapy to be used in preparation for and alongside assisted fertility treatments such as IVF, IUI ICSI and medicated cycles, as it seems to enhance the effects of medical fertility treatment
Various conditions such as Polycystic Ovaries (PCOS), Endometriosis, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) or fibroids can benefit greatly from reflexology as it can help stimulate and stabilise the hormonal system whilst encouraging a normal menstrual cycle.
The Association of Reflexologists (AoR) has found that on average 50% of clients seeking help through reflexology for infertility; find themselves pregnant within the first 6 months of starting treatment. The AoR has also found reflexology to be of assistance to those women suffering from endometriosis or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) which can be a primary cause of fertility problems and abdominal discomfort in women.
Fertility reflexology is always adapted in accordance with what feels comfortable for you and what you need. I also teach my clients the hand and feet reflexology points for the ovaries, uterus and pituitary gland so they can stimulate their reproductive system between appointments.
